Race For Life: Pretty Muddy 2026
On 6th June, fifty amazing people across our organisation put on their Cedar branded pink T-shirts, laced up their trainers and headed to Preston to take part in Cancer Research UK’s Pretty Muddy Race for Life!
From the moment we arrived, there was a real buzz in the air, with the music playing, and supporters gathering, we were all very excited to take on the challenge. The day for us, was full of determination, encouragement and community spirit from start to finish.
Proud to take part as Team Cedar
We were especially proud that 12 of the people we support took part in the Race For Life event. Watching them step up to the 5k course, face the obstacles and keep going with such determination was one of the best parts of the day.
Every person who took part achieved something to be proud of, whether that was completing the whole course, tackling a tricky obstacle, pushing through nerves, or simply giving it a go and enjoying the experience. Personal goals were reached across our team, and every single achievement felt worth celebrating.
5k of mud, laughter and determination
And yes, it really was muddy. Very muddy. The course was packed with slippery ground, muddy puddles and obstacles that had everyone crawling, climbing, scrambling and sliding their way around the route. At times, trainers disappeared into the mud and people came off the obstacles covered from head to toe, with no choice but to laugh and keep going… but that was all part of the fun. The course challenged us, but it also brought out the best in everyone. People encouraged each other over every wall, through every muddy patch and all the way to the slide at the finish line.
Families, friends and community spirit
It was so lovely to see family and friends there to support us from the side-lines with cheers, claps and words of encouragement all the way around the course. That support made such a difference and helped create a brilliant atmosphere for everybody taking part. It was also fantastic to see Cedar staff, the people we support, families and friends all brought together in one place. Days like this show what Cedar is all about, creating opportunities, building confidence and making sure people feel included, involved and part of something bigger in their local communities.
Raising money for an important cause
Events like Pretty Muddy are about so much more than crossing the finish line. Every pound raised helps support life-saving research, and every person who signs up becomes part of something meaningful. Knowing that our muddy-filled day in Preston also contributed to such an important cause made the whole event feel even more special. It was a chance to challenge ourselves, come together as a team and do something that really matters.
A day to be proud of
A huge well done goes to everyone who took part in the event. We want to say a special thank you to the staff who encouraged and enabled the people we support to take part, helping them feel confident, included and ready to take on the challenge. Most of all, we want to celebrate our incredible individuals, who showed determination, courage and a brilliant sense of fun throughout the day. They did an amazing job and made us all proud. Seeing everyone in their Cedar-branded pink T-shirts, taking on the mud together and cheering each other on, made it a day we will not forget in a hurry.
By the end of the day, we were tired and muddy but still smiling from ear to ear. The Race for Life event gave us memories we will be talking about for a long time. It brought people together, created new experiences, celebrated personal achievement and raised money for an important cause. We could not have asked for a better day, and we are so proud of everyone who was part of it. Bring on the next challenge.
