MacMillan Coffee Morning 2026
At the end of September, our services across Cedar Health and Wellbeing hosted their own Coffee Mornings, bringing the people we support, colleagues and families together locally to enjoy coffee, cake and conversation while raising money for an important cause.
Each coffee morning supported MacMillan Cancer Support and the vital work they do for people living with cancer and their families. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved, we raised £304.97 for MacMillan Cancer Support!
MacMillan Coffee Morning is an annual fundraising event that encourages people to get together, have a brew, enjoy a sweet treat and raise money for people affected by cancer. By taking part, we were proud to support this nationwide initiative while creating opportunities for the people we support and our colleagues to get involved in their local services.
Getting Everyone Involved
At Cedar Health and Wellbeing, we believe everyone should have opportunities to take part in activities that interest them, try new experiences and make choices about how they spend their time. Our MacMillan Coffee Mornings were a great example of how a shared activity can offer something for everyone.
To help the people we support to understand the event and decide how they wanted to participate, we provided easy read materials on what a coffee morning is, who MacMillan are, why we were raising money and how they could get involved, along with lots of fun activities for the day.
This helped give people the information they needed to decide how they wanted to get involved. Whether they wanted to help with preparations, take part in activities or help raise money, there was an opportunity for everyone.
Baking, Decorating and Fundraising
There was plenty to get involved with as our teams prepared. The people we support took part in a variety of activities including baking and selling cakes, decorating their spaces, playing games and helping to raise money.
These activities provided the opportunity to develop skills and express creativity as well as making everyday activities more enjoyable and purposeful. For example, baking can encourage independence and build confidence in the kitchen, decorating can support decision making and creativity and helping sell cakes can support social, communication and financial skills.
Alongside this, the people we support were also part of something bigger, knowing that their efforts were helping to raise money for a wonderful charity.
Making a Difference Through Fundraising
MacMillan Cancer Support provides practical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer, as well as their families and carers.
Access to reliable information, advice and support can make a real difference and fundraising initiatives, such as MacMillan Coffee Morning, help the charity to continue its important work supporting people through challenging experiences.
