Operations Director

Chris Platt

Chris Platt is the Operations Director of Cedar Health and Wellbeing, he has 15 years of experience of working in the health and social care industry. He started as a support worker and within the first 12 months was managing supported living services for complex individuals. He has spent the last 14 years in a management role within the health and social care sector.

He specialises in developing and facilitating service for people with learning disabilities and/or autism who may exhibit complex/challenging behaviour.

Chris is experienced in managing a number of services with an excess of 100 plus staff. whilst delivering support to these services, Chris has never received a rating below Good by the regulated body (CQC) for any service he has managed. He has had experience of working in the leading companies of the health and social care sector and built his reputation developing new services and fixing services that were performing below expectation. To ensure this was achievable he had to ensure that all regulations are followed, all budgets are adhered to and that all staff are recruited trained and retained to ensure unnecessary disruption to the financial forecast. Chris is known by the local authorities and CCGs as a person they can trust to support people in crisis and prevent hospital admission, this had led to an increase in business opportunities.

He has a history of developing new companies in the sector and leading the business development in his last employment. He developed 4 residential services and over 10 supported living services in the 4 years he was in post.

In his years of experience visiting services throughout the UK, Chris has seen a number of facilities that are not of good quality and lacked the ability to fulfil there need. His aim is to develop homely environments that are robust and not institutional so that people with complex behaviours can live in clean, lovely homes whilst getting there day-to-day needs met.

Beyond facility development, Chris is deeply passionate about investing in the training of support staff to yield better outcomes for supported individuals. He ardently believes in spreading understanding, advocating for a person-centered approach that emphasises focusing on the individual rather than their behavior. For Chris, behavior is a form of communication, and it is the responsibility of support providers to identify what they're trying to tell us and empower individuals with the tools to express their wants and needs in a socially acceptable manner. This will enable the people we support to become part of their local community and live fulfilled meaningful lives.
